NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

GMB Racing's Mo Tom is the morning-line favorite in the Louisiana Derby with 5-2 odds. The premier race at the Fair Grounds will be run on Saturday. GMB is owned by Gayle Benson, wife of New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson.

The 103rd running of the Louisiana Derby offers a $1,000,000 purse, and awards 170 Kentucky Derby points (split 100-40-20-10). A field of 11 is entered in the race.

Mo Tom is currently twelfth in the Kentucky Derby standing with 22 points. He received 10 for his win in the Lecomte, 10 points for his third-place finish in the Risen Star, and two for his third-place finish in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes in 2015. Twenty horses qualify for "The Run For The Roses", which is traditionally the first Saturday in May.

Mo Tom drew the sixth spot in the Derby draw yesterday. GMB Racing's other horse in the field, Tom's Ready, drew right next to him in the seventh spot. Tom's Ready's odds sit at 15-1.
