Nicholls State football holds annual spring game

The Nicholls State University football team wrapped up spring practice with an intra-squad scrimmage on Tuesday night as the Red Team picked up a 30-10 victory over the White Team.

The Red Team racked up 364 yards on offense in the win and held a 23-0 lead at the half after rushing for three touchdowns. The White Team received a 42-yard field goal from David McKey in the third quarter, but Red answered immediately with the biggest play of the game as Tuskani Figaro hit Miguel Harris for a 75-yard touchdown pass.

Red rushed for 177 yards, getting 80 yards on 11 carries from Kaleb Kador. C.J. Okpalobi toted the ball 16 times for 58 yards, while Figaro had eight carries for 48 yards. All three had a rushing touchdown.

Figaro was 11-of-19 passing for 177 yards and a score to lead the Red Team. Mason Roberts had five catches for 65 yards and Stephen LeBouef had three for 16. Ronnie Walker was credited with a team-high five tackles.

Nicholls will have five home games in 2016 and open the season at Georgia on Sept. 10. The Colonels will make their home debut the following week against Incarnate Word.
