At the NFL owners meetings this morning New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton revealed he agreed to a five-year extension with the team.

ESPN reports the new deal will pay Payton in excess of $9 million per season, making Payton the highest paid head coach in the National Football League.

Payton told a group of reporters why he's staying with the Saints until 2020.

"I've got my briefcase somewhere. Another contract there that's going to be for another five years," said Sean Payton. "It's something Mickey (Loomis) and I have worked on, Dennis Lauscha (Saints President). You kind of feel there's so much of you in there, I don't see myself working anywhere else."

A reporter followed up by asking is it signed.

"No not yet, it's not breaking news. The point is, that was something that began when the season ended. It's a good thing, there's been really good stability, consistency in that ownership. Just had dinner with Mr. Benson last night, Mickey, it doesn't guarantee you anything but gives you a chance." said Payton.

The Saints haven't made the playoffs since 2013.
