NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

FilmWorks will shutdown operations of its New Orleans East facility.

"As a direct result of the rule changes made, and the confusion created, by the Louisiana State Legislature, resulting, over the past year, in the devastation of the Louisiana Film Industry, we at FilmWorks New Orleans see no future in servicing this market, at this time," said FilmWorks president George Steiner.

The legislature passed in 2015 a $180 million annual cap on film tax credits.

Steiner has not said yet when all operations would end at the FilmWorks facility on Jourdan Road. The site includes 37 acres of indoor and outdoor space.
