NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Pelicans forward Anthony Davis underwent knee surgery Thursday that will keep him out of basketball activities for 3-to-4 months.

Davis was initially expected to undergo shoulder surgery for a labrum that has been torn since his rookie season, but that is no longer the case according to a release sent out by the team.

"After further evaluation and consultation with Dr. Neal El Attrach in Los Angeles, it has been determined that Davis won’t require surgery on his left shoulder to repair a partially torn labrum," the release reads.

Davis suffered the knee injury March 18 against the Blazers and said his left shoulder has nagged him at various times the past three seasons.
