NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are searching for a man wanted for shooting another man in Algiers. The incident occurred Wednesday around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Zion Street and Dickens Drive.

Police say that the victim was walking near the intersection while talking on his phone when the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Lloyd Lewis drove up and asked him for money. When the victim did not answer, Lewis pulled out a gun and shot him before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Detectives later learned that Lewis and the victim knew each other from an area barbershop. Investigators believe that Lewis committed the shooting because the victim borrowed money from him, two days prior.

The victim told police that Lewis is a short, black man in his late 20's to early 30's with a thin build and dark complexion. He was last seen driving a Ford Crown Victoria or sea-green-colored Mercury. He is also known to drive a light-blue Lincoln Town Car.

If you have any information that could help police in this case, you are asked to call the NOPD's Fourth District Investigative Unit at 504-658-6040 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
