Tulane arrived in Baton Rouge for a Tuesday night showdown against LSU sporting a five-game win streak and quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two frames. From there, the Green Wave never looking back and cruised to a 7-1 thumping.

Paul Mainieri's starting pitcher, Cole McKay didn't make it out of the first inning after walking the bases loaded and then walking home a run. The Wave only managed one run in the first inning but came back with a vengeance in the second, scoring four runs.

A run in the eighth and another in the ninth made it 7-0 before the Tigers finally responded in the final inning with a Greg Deichmann RBI. Tulane was led by Stephen Alemais and Grant Witherspoon's multi-hit efforts. Alemais talked about the important boost after the game. "I think this was a big turning point for us, especially going into conference this weekend, it'll give us a lot of confidence going into conference play."

David Pierce notched his first win over the Tigers as Wave Head Coach and made it six-straight before their weekend series at Connecticut. "Just a great ballgame for us, great RPI win, great road win, great win for Tulane."

LSU travels to Auburn for a weekend series trying to improve on their 2-4 start to SEC play.
