THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of Clarence Adams Jr. on a charge of sexual battery.

Police say that in February of 2016, the mother and the grandmother of the alleged victim came to the Thibodaux Police Department to file a complaint of sexual abuse.

As authorities began to investigate, they say they learned that approximately four years ago, Adams inappropriately touched the prepubescent juvenile victim. During the course of the investigation, other victims, now adults, came forward with accusations of sexual abuse they say where committed by Clarence Adams Jr. when they were prepubescent juveniles.

Records indicate that Adams, a resident of Gray, Louisiana, is already a registered sex offender. He was arrested on Monday, March 28th by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.  Mr. Adams was picked up by a Thibodaux Police Officer and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Thibodaux Police Investigators are still investigating this crime, and encourage anyone with information to contact Detective Karissa Waguespack at 985-448-5846.
