HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

A homeless man is behind bars after allegedly burglarizing two businesses.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, 52-year-old Robert Hogan robbed an insurance agency and a Smoothie King in Houma.

The first alleged burglary occurred on March 29. Patrolmen responded to the call of a burglary in progress at Page and Sons Insurance Agency on West Main Street. When they arrived, officers noticed that someone had forced their way into the building and stolen a television. The burglar had fled the scene before deputies arrived.

The next morning patrolmen responded to another burglary, this time at the Smoothie King on Martin Luther King Boulevard. The burglar had again forced their way into the business and stolen several items according to TPSO.

Detectives soon developed Robert Hogan as a suspect using video surveillance from a nearby business. Hogan, a homeless man, was located later that afternoon in a wooded area off of MLK Boulevard along with all of the stolen items from both businesses.

Hogan was taken into custody and arrested for two counts of burglary of a business. He is currently in the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex awaiting a bond hearing.
