HAMMOND, LA (WVUE) -

Over the past couple of days, in Hammond, Southeastern has been putting on a baseball clinic, at the expense of the SWAC. Southern and Alcorn State, the Lions' back-to-back opponents, got a lesson in what it takes to win.

SLU exploded for a season-high in runs Wednesday afternoon, cruising past Alcorn State, 21-0, in a seven-inning, non-conference victory at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Combine that with the 18-runs they scored on Tuesday against the Jaguars and it's 39-runs in 14-innings of work.

The win extended Southeastern's school-record winning streak to 14 games and it was also the 100th career victory for Lion Head Coach Matt Riser. The fastest to 100 in program history, Riser reached the milestone in 148 games. Former Head Coach Greg Marten previously held the distinction, needing 159 games to earn his 100th victory.

And for the second-consecutive game, Southeastern (20-6) scored in every inning it batted. The Lions have now scored at least one run in 12 straight innings.

The Lions return to Southland Conference play this weekend against Nicholls State. Southeastern will host the first and third games of the series while the middle game, scheduled for Saturday, will be played in Thibodaux.

The Saints have hit the halfway mark of the preseason, and the final 53 man roster is getting clearer. Here's my view at this point in time.  QB (2) Drew Brees Chase Daniel There is no reason for the Saints to keep more than two quarterbacks. It’s obvious who those quarterbacks should be. RB (4) Mark Ingram Adrian Peterson Alvin Kamara Daniel Lasco No change here. FB (1) John Kuhn Once again, easy call. WR (5)  Willie Snead Michael Thomas Ted G...more>>

It's been four long years since John Curtis lifted a state championship trophy in the Dome. The senior class of the Patriots doesn't own a ring, which is unheard of , since Curtis posses 26 state titles. The squad doesn't want to be a part of history, but that's not the main focus in summer drills. In this edition of FFF, I take a look at Alabama's history of being preseason ranked No. 1 under Nick Saban, soccer shows us you can go home, and my tiny obsession with fountain drinks. FOOTBALL Stop me if you heard this before, but Alabama is ranked No. 1 in the country. This time, the AP college football preseason poll anointed the Tide.
