Tornado and flash flood watches issued for the metro New Orleans area

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a tornado watch and a flash flood watch for portions of the metro New Orleans area.

The tornado watch is in effect for area north of Lake Pontchartrain until 9 a.m. Those parishes include St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Livingston and Washington.

The flash flood watch, which is already in effect for the north shore, and goes into effect at 1 a.m. Friday for the south shore, lasts through 7 p.m. Friday.
