NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The NOPD needs help finding a woman they say swiped a black iPhone 6 cell phone someone had forgotten at a U.S. Post Office.

The victim says it happened around 8:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of Caton Street on March 29, 2016.

The phone's owner told police he left his cell phone on the service counter and when he returned a short time later, it was gone.

He informed the postal inspector who provided video surveillance. Click here to watch the video. The camera catches the unknown woman as she walks in, moves to the unattended cell phone and picks it up. Police describe her as being around 20 to 30 years old with a short, stocky build and short twisted or braided hair. She also wore a black satin cap, a black and yellow tank top and black tights.

Police say when she reached the customer service desk, she made no attempt to give the phone to any of the postal workers.

If you know anything about the case, you're asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111. You could be eligible for a cash reward.
