Parking rates drop for French Quarter Fest goers

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - If you're planning to attend this weekend's French Quarter Festival, you may want to consider the option of a shuttle that picks you up from the Convention Center and drops you off at the edge of the quarter.  In addition to offering a less hectic way to get to the quarter, organizers have also sweetened the pot by offering reduced parking rates.  While the shuttle is free, there is a parking fee of $25 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.  That's $5 cheaper than the original parking rate of $30.

The new official shuttle, the French Quarter Festival 'Easy Rider', will be operated by Gray Line of New Orleans. Air conditioned, comfortable passenger buses will transport fans from the Convention Center to the Sheraton Hotel (500 Canal Street).  Shuttle hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on April 8-9 and from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. on April 10.

For fest goers not interested in the shuttle service, just be prepared for crowded streets and full parking lots in and around the quarter.  Another option for fest goers are streetcars and RTA busses.

French Quarter Festival presented by Chevron takes place April 7-10, 2016. For more information contact Rebecca Sell at (504) 522-5730 or email Visit the French Quarter Festivals, Inc. website at for more information about the organization.
