Crimestoppers doubles reward in murders of mother, boyfriend

Man and woman killed in Kenner double murder

KENNER, LA (WVUE) - Crimestoppers is doubling its reward for information leading to an arrest in a horrendous double murder that happened Monday in Kenner.

Kenner Police were called to the 2100 block of Idaho Avenue just before 7 a.m. The bodies of 31-year-old Raynell Kimbrough and his girlfriend, Dawn Ellen Scott, 28, were discovered in an upstairs bedroom of Apt. D, according to Kenner Police.

Police said Scott was still bed when she died; Kimbrough was found on the floor next to the bed. The couple's infant daughter was still lying on the bed, but was not harmed.

A 10-year-old child heard gunshots, entered the bedroom and found his mother shot to death. He went to a neighbor's house and called police. A 2-year-old was also in apartment when the shooting occurred. None of the children were physically injured.

Kenner police said there were no signs of forced entry at the home.

Chief Michael Glaser said officers tracked down the driver of a gold Ford Taurus that was seen leaving the area shortly after the murders. It is unclear how or if that person is connected to the incident, accept that he is a person of interest in the case.
