PHILADELPHIA, PA (WVUE) - - The Pelicans arrived in Philadelphia looking for their third three-game win streak of the season against a Sixers team at risk of tying the NBA record for least wins in a season with nine. A day after local college Villanova won a national championship, the 76ers got the victory, 107-93, to secure their tenth win of the season.
Alvin Gentry's squad got off to a promising start, leading by as much as twelve in the first quarter but the lead evaporated rapidly thanks in large part to losing the turnover battle, 17-8 and being beat on the fast break, 16-2.
Villanova product Dante Cunningham paced the Pelicans with 19 points while the 76ers were led by former New Orleans Hornet Carl Landry's 22 points.
Philadelphia has secured the worst record in the NBA this season, while the Pelicans have the sixth worst heading into their Wednesday night game at Boston.
