SLU baseball rallies past Tulane

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - It's not everyday that a mid-week game carries with it such high stakes. And it's still to be determined just what Tuesday night's Southeastern win against Tulane will mean in terms of post season ramifications. But, if you're a Lion fan, it's nice to have this game and this series in your back pocket.

At Turchin Stadium, SLU put together a seven-run, 13-hit night and got just enough late pitching to up-end the Green Wave, 7-6.

The Lions opened the scoring early, getting a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings. But, the Greenies would respond with two of their own in the bottom half of the sixth inning. And in the seventh, Tulane's Jeremy Montalbano tripled to center field, scoring both Grant Witherspoon and Jake Rogers to give the Wave a 5-3 lead.

But a four-run, eighth inning proved to be the difference in the game. Brennan Breaud and Webb Bobo both provided RBI singles.

The win gave Southeastern the season sweep of the Green Wave and it was just the second home loss this season for Tulane.
