NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - You can use a new interactive map to see your neighborhood's exposure risk to lead.
Vox researchers worked with the Washington State Department of Health to map lead exposure risk by census tract. Multiple tracts in the metro area rate a "10" on Vox's map. Vox rates exposure risk on a scale of one to 10, 10 suggesting greatest risk.
Lead exposure risk is getting a lot of attention because of Flint, Michigan's water crisis. Hundreds of Flint residents have filed a racketeering lawsuit targeting Gov. Rick Snyder and other state and local officials over lead contamination of the city's drinking water.
The Orleans Sewerage & Water Board says in spite of dozens of miles of lead pipes, the city's water is safe.
