ALGIERS, LA (WVUE) - A car plunged nearly 100 feet off of the Woodland Highway Bridge in Algiers after a road rage incident, according to a report from Nola.com | The Times-Picayune.
New Orleans firefighters were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m. on Friday. First responders were able to rescue the motorist trapped inside the vehicle, the report said.
A witness said she was heading west on Woodland Highway when a man's red Chevrolet Aveo sped up behind her. She believes the man was trying to pass her and catch up with a dark-colored SUV.
"Once I could see he was road raging, I backed off the situation," the witness said in the report. "I could sense something bad was going to happen."
The Chevrolet pulled up alongside the SUV and lost control while trying to hit it. The car rolled over several times and fell over the concrete barricade nearly 200 feet.
The car landed on a gravel driveway. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
