NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Four people were shot in the Lower 9th Ward Friday night in two separate shootings, according to police.

Two men opened fire near the corner of St. Claude on Lizardi Street around 11:38 p.m., hitting three people, New Orleans Police Department investigators said.

“I came outside and they were shooting. People was just running everywhere, so I told everyone to stay in the building and see what's going on,” Troy Pritchett, the owner of Mickie Bee’s on St. Claude, said.

Pritchett was just around the corner when gunfire erupted as watched the two gunmen rush the corner near Lizardi.

“They shot the windows out and everything, all the cars out there, it was a sight to see man, people just running,” Pritchett said.

A 29-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were shot while sitting in a car on the block, but police say they were able to drive themselves to a hospital.

When officers arrived on scene they found a 19-year-old shot outside of a home on Lizardi. He was taken to the hospital by EMS.

“It was scary, it was scary, they were just shooting, because innocent people got shot, a bullet don't have no name,” Pritchett said.

But Pritchett said he continued a birthday party inside his bar while police investigated the shooting around the corner.

“It happens, but we just gotta keep going on and just make sure that everybody understands that that didn't happen [at Mickie Bee’s] and we're still here,” Pritchett said.

Police are also investigating the shooting of a 33-year-old male in the 5100 block of St. Claude Avenue that happened at around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Investigators said the man was shot in the shoulder then made his way to the hospital on his own.

Although close in proximity, it is unknown if the two shootings are related.

All victims’ conditions are unknown at this time.
