Ohio State honoring Will Smith at spring game Saturday

(WVUE) - Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith announced today plans to honor Buckeye alum Will Smith at OSU's spring game Saturday.

The tribute will include a team decal and a moment of silence before kickoff.

Smith was a four-year letterman from 2000-03 at Ohio State. Smith was the leader of a defensive line, and a defense that powered Ohio State to the 2002 college football national championship, the school's first national title in football in 34 years.

Will Smith was shot and killed late Saturday night in the Lower Garden District by Cardell Hayes in a road rage incident. Hayes is currently being held on $1 million dollar bond.
