NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

NOPD officers said they confiscated a powerful firearm during a traffic stop in Central City on Monday.

Around 7:45 p.m., NOPD officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Danneel Street. Police said the driver consented to a search of the car, and officers found a Glock semi-automatic 9mm pistol with an attached drum magazine loaded with 50 hollow point rounds.

Police said both occupants had previous drug convictions, making them felons in possession of a firearm.

Terrell Thompson and Darnell Thomas were arrested and booked accordingly.
