DES MOINES, IA (WVUE) -

The Iowa Cubs scored runs in four consecutive innings jumping out to an 8-0 lead and an eventual 9-5 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs, Wednesday night in Des Moines, IA.

The Zephyrs' offense came alive with back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning.  Don Kelly drilled a two run home run to right and Xavier Scruggs followed with a solo blast to left.

The Z’s added two more runs in the eighth inning with a two-out, two-run single from Adrien Nieto to cut the Cubs lead to 8-5.  They wouldn't get any closer.

They'll wrap up the series with Iowa Thursday before returning for their home opener against Omaha on Friday.
