NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Home openers aren't supposed to come with a spoiler alert, but the first home game for the Zephyrs did.
The Z's couldn't get anything started offensively against the Omaha Storm Chasers and their hurler, Jonathan Dziedzic, who tossed seven scoreless innings in the 3-nothing win.
Austin Nola got the Zephyrs first hit of the game, early on in the 3rd inning. In face, the Zephyrs had only three base runners the entire night.
Omaha's Jarrod Dyson, reached on a hit-by-pitch. He later moved to third on a ground out and a balk and would score the game-winning run on a sac fly. That was in the first inning. Who know that that one run would stand up nine innings later.
This was the Zephyrs 3rd loss in a row. They'll continue this series against Omaha at 6 p.m. Saturday from Zephyr Field.
