The Kentucky Derby points standings came to an end yesterday after the conclusion of the Arkansas Derby.

Tom and Gayle Benson's GMB Racing notched one horse in the top 20, Tom's Ready, sitting in 17th place. Mo Tom, GMB's other thoroughbred horse, stands right outside the dividing line at #21. The top 20 horses get automatic entry into the Kentucky Derby.

Mo Tom has accumulated 32 points in the Derby prep races. In most years 20-plus points got you in "The Run for the Roses". Only one horse needs to drop out for Mo Tom to get in. In the past this is a normal occurrence.

Trainer Tom Amoss brought Mo Tom to Churchill Downs after the racing season ended at the New Orleans Fair Grounds in late March. Mo Tom won't need a late shipping time if another horse cancels, he's already at the home of the Kentucky Derby.

Gun Runner finished in the top spot in the Derby standings with 151 points. He won the Risen Star and Louisiana Derby at the Fair Grounds.
