An armed robbery and a carjacking occurred in the Carrollton neighborhood within minutes of each other, according to initial New Orleans police reports.
The two separate incidents occurred six minutes apart and were separated by two blocks
The first of the two separate incidents, the armed robbery, occurred just before midnight in the 7600 block of Maple Street.
The victim, a 29-year-old man, was sitting inside his vehicle when he was approached by a suspect described as a black man.
The suspect was armed with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash.
The victim complied and the perpetrator fled.
The carjacking occurred six minutes later in the 7400 block of Freret Street.
The victim, a 55-year-old man, was getting back into his car after delivering a pizza when he was approached by two suspects, described as black males.
One of the suspects was armed with a revolver. He pointed the gun at the victim and demanded money, car keys and a cell phone.
The victim gave the thief $48 in cash, car keys and the cell phone.
The suspects fled in the victim's 2005 Nissan XTerra. The vehicle has a Louisiana plate numbered XMV196.
