NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - NOPD Second District officers tracked down and arrested four suspects wanted in connection with weekend car burglaries. The arrests came after residents reported a spike in car burglaries during the past several weeks.
Saturday at about 10:40 p.m., detectives responded to a call reporting that several subjects were pulling on vehicle door handles in the area of Cadiz and Constance streets.
As they were patrolling in the 4900 block of Constance, the detectives saw a male rummaging through a Nissan Altima. Police said two others were standing near the car serving as lookouts. A fourth male was spotted trying to get into another vehicle down the block.
When detectives approached, all four subjects fled on foot but were eventually caught.
In addition to two juveniles, detectives detained two 17-year-olds, Larry Johnson and Evantrell Tennessee. A few hours later, 21-year-old Antonio Miller was arrested for tampering after he was seen pulling on car door handles in the 8300 block of Apple Street.
Detectives are investigating whether the suspects are responsible for other car burglaries reported in the area.
