THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

Two people face charges after police allegedly found $10,000 in illegal narcotics in a Thibodaux home.

The Thibodaux Police Department said officers had a warrant to search a home in the 200 block of North 10th Street. Police arrived at the home during the early morning hours of April 14. They said they found Alex Smith, Jr., and Ariyaun DeJean in bed, with a loaded SIG522 rifle under the covers. Officers knocked away the gun and arrested the 20-year-olds.

Officers said they also found more than 400 grams of high-grade marijuana, hydrocodone pills and cash inside the home.

Smith and DeJean were both booked with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of hydrocodone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects posted bond and were released from the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
