NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The City of New Orleans formulates a plan to fight the zika virus, while stressing no local transmissions have been confirmed.
If local cases are confirmed, aggressive mosquito control methods will be determined by the number and location of cases. Those methods include aerial and ground treatments at three day intervals. The city notes it has had success in the past controlling the mosquito population that way.
Other efforts include alerting universities, health care providers and more about the spread of the virus.
So far, there have been four confirmed cases of zika in the state. All of the patients traveled to areas known for the spread of the virus before they were diagnosed in Louisiana.
