NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Some people want to change the way drivers navigate a stretch of Canal Blvd. in Lakeview.

The Department of Public Works proposes reducing the boulevard to one lane of vehicle traffic in each direction from Harrison Ave. to Robert E. Lee Blvd. Other proposed changes for the area include the installation of an additional traffic laws enforcement camera and the creation of a bike lane.

The Department of Public Works thinks reconfiguring this stretch of Canal Blvd. will reduce the number of speeders in the area. It also thinks reconfiguration will make the area safer for people who park and ride bikes on the boulevard.
