METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - After four burglaries at Lafreniere Park in broad daylight, Tiffany Longstreet is reconsidering how frequently she'll visit the area.
"I came out and I noticed that my car, as well as the car next to mine, both of our windows were broken into, they stole both of our purses, as well as other miscellaneous items," Longstreet said.
It happened sometime after noon on Tuesday while Longstreet was at the Tot Lot with her boys.
"I was this first parking spot right by the playground area, so they must have come in between both of our cars and knocked out both of our windows, real quick without anyone noticing," Longstreet said.
Longstreet captured the damage on her cell phone to document what happened.
"I felt violated, having my two kids here, just coming to have a nice time at the park and enjoy the day, I thought my window was down the way the glass fell into the car, and then I looked into the car and noticed my belongings were taken," she said.
Now she's planning to return in the future but says she'd feel better if the park had more security, especially in areas near walking entrances.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said it plans to beef up security methods at the park in hopes of deterring future burglars.
