BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) -

LSU bats fell silent at Alex Box Saturday night only mustering one run. That wasn't enough, Mississippi State won 2-1, and took the series win in the process.

It was the first time since 2006 the Bulldogs took a series win against the Tigers.

Mississippi State came out hot in the first when Jack Kruger hit a solo home run. The Bulldogs extended their lead 2-0 in the top of the sixth inning as Reid Humphreys hit an RBI sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to bring in another run.

Alex Lange was charged with the loss after allowing only two runs on just four hits, striking out seven in a nine inning performance.

The final game of the series is Sunday at 12 p.m.
