NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A Tulane student was robbed while attempting to get his wallet back after possibly being pick pocketed at a popular college bar.

According to TUPD,  a Tulane student lost his wallet at the Boot early Sunday morning. Police say he may have been pick pocketed.

Shortly after he lost his wallet, an unknown man approached him holding his debit card.

The unknown man offered to return the student's wallet for $20, according to TUPD, so they both went to an ATM by The Palms bar near the corner of Broad and Freret. The student withdrew the promised cash, but the subject stole both the cash and the wallet and fled.

The student chased and attempted to stop the robber, but was thrown to the ground.

Police say the unidentified robber was described as a black male with a slim build and "chin strap" beard. He was wearing a shirt with a diamond-shaped design at the time.

Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 504-822-1111.
