NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A 56-year-old man and his six-year-old grandson were injured Sunday after a vehicle crashed through multiple back yards and into the supports to a second floor balcony they were sitting on, according to our partners at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.
New Orleans police say that the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the 4700 block of Francis Drive, when a woman in an SUV drove off the interstate.
Family members of the victims told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune that Zachary Scott was taken to the hospital after complaining of leg pain and that his grandson, who landed on his bottom, was taken to a hospital by his mother to receive treatment for a large cut to the leg.
The newspaper reports that the crashed through five different properties, located along the interstate and that a piece of wood went through the windshield of the SUV, narrowly missing the driver.
Police have yet to release the identity of the woman or any information pertaining to possible charges.
