NOPD investigating fatal overnight shooting

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are investigating the fatal overnight shooting of a man in Central City.

Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of South Dorgenois.

When they arrived officers found an unidentified 18-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police also found an injured 18-year-old woman suffering from injuries sustained when the silver Chevrolet Malibu she was riding in crashed into an empty lot.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman suffered injuries in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Through investigation, detectives learned that the two victims were in the man’s silver Chevrolet Malibu in the 3900 block of Louisiana Avenue Parkway when an unknown male suspect approached the vehicle with a gun and opened fire.

The victims fled the scene in the vehicle, heading north on Broad Street. When they arrived at the intersection of South Dorgenois Street and Clio Place, the vehicle crashed into an empty lot.
