NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Warm and muggy conditions continue to prevail across the area today with most locations getting into the middle 80s. We are in an early summer pattern with the Bermuda high already controlling our weather. That puts us on the edge of the ridge as it pushes in moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.
A large storm system to our north that is bringing heavy rain and large hail to the plains states is getting fueled by the circulation. For us on the southern end we can expect just a few showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two going into Wednesday afternoon.
Rain chances stay elevated as the front stalls across the area on Thursday, but still no wash out with about a 40% chance for rain each day. A strong ridge of high pressure builds back in for Friday and Saturday keeping us mostly dry then Sunday we will have another opportunity at thunderstorms as the next system approaches.
