Police searching for St. Claude rapist

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Police are searching for the man who sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint in St. Claude.

According to NOPD, a woman was walking in the 3000 block of Marais Street around 10:30 p.m. on April 23 when an unknown man approached her. The unknown man forced her into an abandoned house, pulled out a gun and then sexually assaulted her.

The woman described her attacker as a black male, 20-22 years old, about 5'8" - 5'10" tall and weighing about 150 lbs. with a medium build. He has light-to-medium brown skin, a trimmed goatee, low-fade haircut and was wearing a white, short-sleeve crew neck t-shirt and slightly baggy blue jeans. He was armed with a silver .22 caliber handgun.
