NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The ex-wife of former north shore district attorney Walter Reed will head back to the witness stand today.
Shawn Reed will face cross examination from federal prosecutors after she testified Wednesday that her ex-husband hosted parties and took care of constituents.
Reed's defense argues their client used campaign money to pay for dinners and events for his supporters.
Shawn Reed said while she was married to Walter Reed, he was always "on display." Testifying about parties the two held at their home, inviting both politicians and their families, Reed said "The whole idea is to keep in touch with your constituents."
Walter Reed seemed pleased with his ex-wife's testimony while leaving the federal courthouse.
"She told the truth, and that's what I expected from her," Reed said.
Reed faces 19 corruption counts in which federal prosecutors accuse him of using campaign money for personal use.
His son Steven is also on trial.
