Broken tail light traffic stop leads to drug arrests

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Houma Police arrested two men after a traffic stop on April 22.

Police say they were conducting patrols in the area of Morris Street and Grand Calliou Road when they saw a white Ford Contour without tail lights. Police pulled the vehicle over. They say the driver was 19-year-old Tyler Mahan and 18-year-old Davin Williams was the passenger.

During the traffic stop, officers said they saw marijuana and Xanax pills in the vehicle. Officers learned the license plate displayed on the vehicle was switched, and it did not have any insurance.

Both men were arrested. Mahan was charged with failure to display tail lights, possession of marijuana, possession of Xanax, switched license plate, no insurance and no MVI sticker. Williams was charged with possession of Xanax and Possession of Marijuana. Both men were taken to jail.
