TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced Thursday its secured more than $550,000 in federal funds to rebuild and restore the Lee's Landing boat launch on the Tangipahoa River.
Miller said the grant award in the amount of $558,257 will be funded by the BP Settlement and the money will be used to pay for estimated engineering, design, and construction/repair costs at the boat launch.
Miller and Parish Councilman Harry Lavine, who represents the Lee's Landing area, said the publicly-owned launch has been in very poor condition for many years, and that these funds will not only make the structure safer but also provide easier access for boaters to use it.
Engineers will soon begin the design process on this project.
Miller said once the design work is completed, the project will be advertised for public bid and open for citizen review before construction begins early next year.
