ST. HELENA PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Louisiana State Police say a crash in St. Helena Parish killed a 19-year-old man.
Investigators say on Friday, Hunter Michael McGregor, of Franklinton, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on LA 38 north of LA 10. As he traveled through a curved portion of the highway his car went off the right side of the road, overcorrected to the left, and spun through the eastbound lane and into a ditch.
Troopers say while in the ditch, McGregor's vehicle turned over and hit a large tree. Investigators say the driver was properly restrained, but still sustained severe injuries in the crash.
The St. Helena Parish Coroner's Office pronounced him dead on the scene. Troopers do not suspect impairment played a role to this crash.
As part of the on-going crash investigation, troopers obtained blood samples, which will be sent to the state police crime lab for analysis.
