Flash flood watch extended through Monday night

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The severe thunderstorm warning issued Sunday morning has expired, but flooding could still occur in several areas.

A flash flood watch is in effect for several parishes in Louisiana until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 2. Widespread rainfall Saturday saturated the ground increasing the chances of flooding as more rain falls today.

The following parishes are under a flash flood watch:

  • TERREBONNE
  • LAFOURCHE
  • JEFFERSON
  • PLAQUEMINES
  • ST. BERNARD
  • ORLEANS
  • ST. TAMMANY
  • IBERVILLE
  • ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST
  • ST. JAMES
  • TANGIPAHOA

The flash flood watch is set to expire Sunday evening.
