Police: Laplace man arrested more than 80 times chalks up another one

LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) -

A LaPlace man who has been arrested more than 80 times since 1989 was re-arrested April 29 after deputies found him sleeping in his car at a traffic light, according to the St. John Sheriff's Office.

At about 1:30 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Elm and West 5th streets, where they awoke the driver of a car stopped at s traffic light. He was identified as 46-year-old Shawn Fisher.

As Fisher was getting out of his car, deputies said they saw him chewing on a large mass. A fight broke out between Fisher and the deputies during which Fisher allegedly tried to grab an officer's gun. 

Deputies found a bag of marijuana and arrested Fisher for drug possession, resisting arrest, simple criminal damage, obstructing the roadway, resisting by violence, disarming an officer, battery on an officer and obstruction of justice.

Fisher was jailed on a $38,250 bond.
