NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Five days until the Kentucky Derby and Gayle and Tom Benson's two horses are full-steam ahead in their preparation for "The Run for the Roses".

Tom Amoss and Dallas Stewart train the Benson horses. They're both New Orleans natives, and Saints season ticket holders. The trainer for Tom's Ready hopes fans of the black and gold will be seeing blue and white take home the crown Saturday.

"I've been a Saints fan as long as they've been playing football. To work for the Bensons is just awesome," said Stewart, who trains Tom's Ready. "To have them here, their first year into racing, Mo Tom and Tom's Ready is pretty exciting for them. If one of us gets lucky and wins it for them, there will be some real excitement; it'll be fun for them."

The City of New Orleans exploded with excitement after the Saints won the Super Bowl. Amoss feels the city will be behind the Benson's once again.

"Training for the Bensons' is a lot of fun. It brings a lot of attention to their horses, and it'll bring a lot of attention to their horses all this week," said Amoss, Trainer for Mo Tom. "More than that the city loves the Bensons. I really feel like this is New Orleans' horse. I don't want to be pompous when I say New Orleans is with us, but I do. I saw it at the Fair Grounds, in the preps that Dallas and I ran them in. The crowds came out for the Bensons'. The city is behind these horses, and it'll make for a fun event for the town."

On Saturday the Saints organization will be well-represented at Churchill Downs. GM Mickey Loomis and Head Coach Sean Payton plan to attend the Derby.
