METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say Losand Mansion, 20, of Laplace, robbed a man in the Target parking lot at the Clearview Mall.

"It just felt normal. Nothing was out the ordinary, and it just happened so fast," said the victim.

The victim told Fox 8 he was shopping at Target and didn't know Mansion. But investigators say there was more to the story.

Jefferson Parish deputies say the victim agreed to meet Mansion at the mall parking lot to sell a gun after posting an ad on Craigslist.

Around 5 p.m., Mansion started walking next to the victim nonchalantly, but then the encounter quickly turned violent.

"He comes up to me really close. I'm thinking his car was the one right next to me, so I didn't think anything of it," the victim said. "He pulls out a firearm from his hip or his pocket - I already know what was going on, and my life is not worth money or whatever I have one me. I gave him what I had and he ran."

The victim parked near the edge of the parking lot near the intersection of Clearview and Veterans Blvd. because the lot was so crowded. On Friday afternoons, customers usually rush to the mall, and Target had a lot of customers that day. Other people even watched the victim try to chase Mansion down -  and even witnessed him getting robbed, he said.

"I chased after him. I pulled out my firearm. I told him, 'hey stop.' I told him I would shoot, but obviously I didn't," the victim said. "I chased him all the way into in front of Target. He got into a getaway car and almost ran a young lady over."

The victim nearly shot at Mansion in order to get his money back, but because of his firearms training and because of the number of people in the area, he did not shoot.

"I didn't want to put anyone in danger. So I let it go, but I made sure I remembered the license plate and his face," he said.

Police have not identified the people in the getaway car.
