KENNER, LA (WVUE) - A $1 million bond was set for the man accused of killing a 16-year-old Kenner girl and dumping her body in St. Rose.
Daniel Beckley, 40, is locked up. He was arrested in New Orleans without incident on Monday and booked with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice in connection with the death of 16-year-old Jorion White.
White's body was found last Sunday in a drainage canal in St. Charles Parish.
Family members reported White missing from her Kenner home on April 22. Investigators discovered her body a few days later. She had pink curlers in her hair, and family members said she would never leave the house that way.
The 16-year-old was described as a fun-loving person who always had a smile on her face. She was a junior at Bonnabel High School.
Daniel Beckley was a long time live-in boyfriend of White's mother, Michelle Price.
The sheriff said Price cooperated fully with detectives, and several people even stepped up to provide surveillance video, taken mostly near the area where white's body was found.
An arraignment for Beckley is scheduled for9 a.m. on June 1.
