NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - More than 425,000 people attended the 2016 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Performers included Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young & Promise of the Real, Snoop Dog, Paul Simon, Steely Dan and more.
Fans enjoyed beautiful weather for the first weekend of the festival. However, rain marred the last Saturday and Sunday. Rain collected to form small rivers, turning the grounds into a muddy mess. On Saturday, April 30, the festival had to shut down due to weather just before headliner Stevie Wonder was set to take the stage.
The attendance numbers were down from last year when 460,000 music lovers packed the festival over its two weekends. Next year, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival starts April 28 and ends May 7.
