(WVUE) - Lafourche Parish deputies say Michael Robinson, 42, used a woman's bank card without her permission.
After the victim reported several fraudulent transactions on her card, investigators learned she had given the card to Robinson in order to buy her groceries. Robinson admitted to using the card for other purchases, and deputies arrested him for use of an access card as theft and theft of assets of an aged/disabled person - both felonies.
Robinson also has three outstanding arrest warrants for contempt of court.
He was booked and bond set at $65,000, plus fines of $419,50 in fines, and court costs.
"Unfortunately, we see all too often that criminals tend to target the elderly due to their trusting nature," said Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre. "You should never give your PIN number to anyone, and only entrust use of your personal finances to family members or trusted friends. Regardless, you should always be careful because sometimes the temptation of the opportunity is too great even for someone you trust."
