THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

A Thibodaux man was arrested Tuesday after police said he stole a school bus and drove it while he was drunk.

Jordon Molaison, 21, faces felony theft of a motor vehicle, simple criminal damage to property, second-offense DWI, driving under suspension and operating a vehicle without a proper endorsement.

At around 6 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a Chackbay home where a bus driver said she woke up to find her bus missing. While en route to the residence, deputies saw  the bus traveling westbound on LA Highway 20 and initiated a traffic stop. Thibodaux Police were also called to the scene. Deputies made contact with the driver, identified as Molaison, who had allegedly “hotwired” the bus before stealing it from the property. Deputies said he also damaged a camera inside the bus.

Deputies said Molaison smelled of a alcohol and refused to submit to a field sobriety test. He later took a breathalyzer, which showed a blood alcohol content of .144g. Deputies also learned Molaison had a suspended license and did not have an endorsement to operate the bus.

Molaison was jailed at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. His bond has not yet been set.
