The decomposed body of a woman was discovered by railroad workers Wednesday morning in the Spillway.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office says around 7 a.m., crews with the Canadian National Railroad notified the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office of a body in Lake Pontchartrain just west of the entrance canal to the lower section in the Bonnet Carre’ Spillway in Norco.

Once on the scene detectives located the body of a female in advanced decomposition state. She was wearing a red and white plaid button down shirt, a white under shirt, and a blue sports bra.

Anyone with any information on the identity of the female is asked to contact Detective Chris Baird at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
