NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Longtime trainer Dallas Stewart described Wednesday's emotion at the Kentucky Derby draw best. "There's nothing you can do, you just have to accept what comes out," he said. "But you hope that lady luck plays a part of it and you don't get down inside."
By the time Stewart's horse, Tom's Ready, was drawn after five others, the two least favorable poll positions, first and 20th, had already been filled. In fact, Tom's Ready got a very favorable slot, 12th.
GMB Racing's other horse, Mo Tom, was the last to be drawn but also drew favorably, receiving the fourth spot. While Stewart said nothing would really change about his race strategy, Tom Amoss said Mo Tom would be running differently. "The adjustments are positive, we're closer to the rail, we want to save ground going around the turn and being in the four post, we're going to be able to do that so it's a very easy ride for Corey," said Amoss.
Post time for Saturday is set at 5:34 PM central.
